How home goods floor lamp increases the working concentration at home

How home goods floor lamp increases the working concentration at home.

The working world is currently more concerned than ever with the topic of a home office. More and more companies are allowing their employees to work from home, thus creating more space for flexibility. However, so that effective work is possible in your own home, certain framework conditions should be right there. Just like in the office, good light is also crucial in the home office to stay focused on the screen after a few hours.

Light in the workplace does not necessarily have to be cozy, but effective. To guarantee this for every office, the legislator created the DIN EN 12464-1 standard in August 2011, which deals with the lighting of workplaces.

Good light in the workplace is important to be able to work long and concentrated. It ensures that our eyes don't get tired and keeps us awake. Optimal light is essential, especially when working on a screen. Therefore, if there is insufficient daylight, it has to be supplemented by artificial light. The exact requirements for the lighting of the workplace are determined by a specified standard, DIN EN 12464-1. In this way, the legislature regulates the lighting of workplaces in indoor spaces that meet the requirements for visual comfort and visual performance for people with normal vision.

What does DIN EN 12464-1 regulate?

The legally prescribed standard specifies the requirements for lighting solutions for most indoor workplaces and their associated areas. Planning recommendations are also given. The lighting requirements that are specified in this European standard usually also meet requirements concerning safety.

The standard does not specify any specific solutions. It allows planners to explore new technologies and take innovative lighting systems into account. The lighting can be done with daylight, artificial light, or a combination of both. DIN EN 12464-1 describes the main characteristics of the light climate such as luminance distribution, illuminance, glare, the direction of light, light color and color rendering, flicker, and daylight.

This is why the regulations of the VDU workstation regulation and the guidelines of DIN EN 12464-1, which deal with the lighting of workplaces, must also be complied with at home. After all, the right lighting concept in the home office is an important prerequisite for healthy work, a high level of concentration, and greater productivity. If there is not enough daylight for this, it has to be supplemented by artificial light. Luminaires with a so-called daylight sensor are ideal for this. This automatically adjusts the light color and brightness, which ensures constant lighting throughout the day. There are now numerous free-standing and pendant lights that are equipped with such a sensor. Another advantage: These luminaires usually emit their light not only directly, but also indirectly. This avoids harsh shadows that could strain the eyes unnecessarily.

Predigest. The base for good lighting in the home office

To meet these requirements, our Sunmory lighting consultants have developed the home goods floor lamp, which shines on both sides and with its numerous functions ensures ideal workplace lighting. The light is effectively glare-free by a diamond prism and half is emitted directly and half indirectly. This not only illuminates the workplace itself but also illuminates the room at the same time. A daylight sensor is built into the rectilinear body to ensure constant brightness. This regulates the LED light according to the amount of daylight available. This means that there is always constant brightness at the workplace. The best conditions to work long and concentrated without symptoms of fatigue.

In principle, the same applies to the home office. The lighting concept is coherent if it consists of good basic lighting, adequate workplace lighting, and targeted accent lighting. For good accent lighting or to support the basic lighting, wall lights, ceiling wash lights, or ceiling lights with opal glass mounted at eye level are recommended to bathe the room in a good general light. The top priority, however, is that the light is diffusely distributed in the room and does not dazzle during work.

Good light for the home office at a glance:

Good workplace lighting is always a combination of daylight and artificial light. Lights with daylight sensors are perfect for this. It aims to make concentrated work at the desk easier, to relieve the eyes, and thus to prevent rapid fatigue. Sunmory recommends neutral white light for the home office workplace. In other words, light has an increased proportion of blue. Because that has an activating effect and also contributes to increased productivity.
